Less than 48 hours after the ceasefire agreement between the federal government and terrorist group Boko haram, gunmen suspected to be the insurgents have attacked Sina, a village in Mitchika area of Adamawa state.
According to Dr. Caleb Filli, a community leader in Michika who is presently taking refuge in Yola, he said the gunmen who were in their hundreds invaded the village in the afternoon and burnt down houses and also shot sporadically thereby creating panic which forced residents of the town to flee for safety.
He also appealed to the federal government to ensure that the ceasefire agreement included the withdrawal of Boko haram fighters from the areas they are presently occupying, revealing that the ceasefire would not be meaningful unless it paved way for residents to return to their home.
Filli added that he couldn’t ascertain the Number of deaths as the time of filing this report and also sympathized with the thousands of displaced residents who are living as refugees after been forced to leave their farms and businesses behind.
