The Ghanaian government reportedly put together 3 million dollars in cash, put it on a plane and sent the plane to Brazil. The money is suppose to be used to pay the appearance fees of the players who reportedly insisted on cash payments.
The reports that emanated from Brazil on Monday were that the black stars were boycotting training sessions over unpaid bonuses and apparently the players threatened not to play the final group game against Portugal (a must win game by the way) if they weren’t paid their bonuses in full.
The deputy sports minister, Joseph Yamin told Ghanaian radio station city FM that the country had to mobilize the cash and send it to Brazil because the players insisted on cash payments.
