The Metropolitan Institute Of Art To Rename Costume Institute After Anna Wintour

Anna Wintour is the editor-in-chief for vogue US. Wintour is an icon, well known for her pageboy hairstyle –known in Nigeria as ‘Shut up and drive’- and her oversized glasses. She has a huge sense of style, is very hardworking and commands a lot of respect; she can be regarded as the ‘ultimate bitch’. This was portrayed quite well in the film ‘Devil wears prada’.

The Met announced that it is naming the building housing its costume institute after her. The Anna Wintour Costume Center is scheduled to reopen to the public May 8 after extensive renovations.

Museum officials said the curatorial department will continue to be known as the Costume Institute.

Wintour has served as a trustee of the Met since 1999 and has helped the museum raise approximately $125 million for the costume institute. She has chaired and co-chaired numerous benefits for the museum since 1995.

Anna Wintour has been the editor-in-chief of Vogue US since 1988. A fixture at fashion shows and society events, She can be regarded as the most powerful person in the fashion industry.
